Note: This press release is over six months old and the details may have been superseded. Please contact the Press Office for the latest information.

Main contractor John Sisk & Son (Holdings) Ltd has validated its commitment to BIM through its recent BRE Global BIM Level 2 Business Systems certification.

Operating in the UK, Ireland and across Europe, the 150 years old family owned business is one of the most recent construction companies to demonstrate its BIM capability. John Sisk & Son (Holdings) Ltd operates across all construction sectors including, civil, commercial, industrial, healthcare, education, residential, retail, process industries, energy and others. With partner Dragados, it has recently completed work on Crossrail’s Eastern Running Tunnels, the largest of the tunnelling contracts on the scheme.

Managing Director, Stephen Bowcott said ‘We have mandated that all projects over €10m will be BIM integrated. It has been the norm for our pharma sector for the last decade.  We are encouraging our customers and consultants to understand the real benefits of BIM for the whole life costing of their assets.  It is understandable that the training investment for some consultant practices in Ireland is at this time difficult.  We believe that BIM is absolutely essential in our pharma sector, in our technologies and also in most commercial projects too.  We are delighted to be the first contractor in Ireland to achieve BRE BIM Level 2 certification.’

BIM Leader Ireland, Cillian Kelly said ‘We are the first Irish owned contractors to have received BRE BIM Level 2 Business Systems certification. We are actively using BIM Level 2 elements on a number of projects across the industry, we demonstrated this during our on-site audit as part of the certification process. Sisk are leaders in the industry in health & safety, environmental and quality management. Following this certification we are proud to be industry leaders for Building Information Management in which we deliver projects with consistency and quality.’

Guy Hammersley BRE Group Director for BIM said ‘Congratulations to John Sisk. BIM certification will further enhance its reputation for continuous improvement in its operational processes with its zero accidents, zero defects, and zero delays philosophy.’

BRE Global’s BIM Level 2 Business Systems Certification scheme assesses a business in relation to its BIM capability and policy as outlined in the PAS 1192-2:2013 and PAS 91 standards. It also considers the ability of the business to meet the requirements of an employer to implement BIM on a project.

NOTES TO EDITOR

BRE Global BIM Level 2 Business Systems Certification scheme assesses a business, based at a single or multiple locations, in relation to the BIM policy and capability defined in PAS 1192-2:2013 and PAS 91. It also assesses the ability of the business to meet the requirements of an employer to carry out a BIM capability assessment. The scheme has been designed to enable certificated businesses to demonstrate compliance with PAS91-2013 section 4.2, so that they will not have to provide evidence of competence each time they undertake a tender.
