About BRE

BRE’s purpose is to contribute to a thriving and sustainable world by developing science-led solutions to built environment challenges.

Our expertise is used to tackle today’s toughest global challenges, like climate change, and the safety and security of buildings and infrastructure. We are also an international provider of robust, independent, third-party certification for fire, security and environmental products and services.

Founded in 1921, BRE (the Building Research Establishment) has been raising the standards of the built environment for over a century. BRE started as a government-funded, research-based organisation, and has become an ambitious profit-for-purpose global business. We re-invest the profit we make back into our business, so that we can deliver on our purpose to develop science-led solutions to built environment challenges.

Filming for film, TV, and commercial advertising at the BRE Science Park.

The BRE Science Park is regularly used as a location for TV and feature film productions. Ideally located, inside the M25 and close to the M1, only three miles from Leavesden Studios and close to Elstree, BRE’s 50-acre Hertfordshire filming location offers a range of building types, controllable roads, outdoor green spaces and private woodlands.

With everything from a fine Victorian country house to modern engineering test laboratories, our site has been used for commercials, scenes from popular TV soaps, has doubled as Iceland for a major feature film, and been used to host a number of stunt scenes involving pyrotechnics and large vehicle collisions.

Weekday and weekend hires can be accommodated, with the added advantage of plenty of hard standing unit base parking available at weekends. Weekday and night shoots can also be hosted, with level hardstanding available.

To learn more about film location hire at BRE, contact our agents, The Location Collective.
