BRE is delighted to announce the first cohort of NABERS UK Energy for Offices Assessors, who have recently completed their training and exams and are well on their way to performing Energy for Offices ratings on behalf of building owners.

NABERS UK is a simple, reliable system for rating the energy efficiency of office buildings across England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland, to help building owners to understand their building’s performance versus other similar buildings, providing a benchmark for progress. The rating is performed by an Assessor, who carries out a physical assessment of the building to collect and then verify the data required to provide a NABERS Energy for Offices rating, which is then submitted to the NABERS team for auditing, before the building is certified with the final rating.

The NABERS UK Energy for Offices training course recently launched and we have been very impressed with the interest taken and progress made.

Meet our first Assessors:

Paul Miller – “I chose NABERS UK because, as M&E consultants who have committed to achieving Net Zero Carbon by 2030, we see assisting in reducing our clients energy demand as crucial if we are all to achieve Net Zero. We believe that NABERS UK will provide a robust and reliable methodology to ensuing that energy demand in offices can be reduced so that targets are met“.

Mosope Ogunnaike – “With my recently acquired skills, the next step is to apply for the NABERS UK Assessor License and start rating buildings, helping clients understand their buildings’ energy performance.
There is an ever-developing design for compliance culture that has created a performance gap between building design and performance. It is great that a rating certification system has been established to help bridge this performance gap“.

Jonathan Tobin – “I’d like to get straight into doing actual NABERS UK assessments, and use the skills that I have picked up from this course.
We have had a number of clients who are interested in proceeding with NABERS UK ratings to assist them in getting to net zero, so would be great to be involved in one of the first NABERS UK rated buildings“.

Carol Lock – “The reason I chose NABERS UK is because as an organisation we have been getting a lot of interest from some of our clients, prior to the launch of the training course, wishing to learn more about NABERS UK and how achievable Ratings are for them. The post occupancy energy analysis and evaluation is set to become such an important part of our industry and clients are looking for robust ways to report on this in comparison to design targets and benchmarks. We hope that NABERS UK will be rolled out to other building types in the future to increase the number of buildings we can assess in this way“.

Congratulations also go to Robert Marshall & David Tregent who have completed their training.
