Solar assurance the BRE way

Next week at the Solar PV Summit, BRE will be launching a certification scheme for large scale solar – an area of the UK solar market that is not currently regulated for installation quality.

The certification scheme will provide an ongoing impartial assessment of solar PV installations above 50kW. The purpose of the scheme is to give independent assurance and demonstrate compliance with industry recognised requirements for performance, safety, reliability and durability.

The scheme addresses individual installations rather than installation companies, providing the supply chain with more immediate and relevant feedback on design and installation practices.  It has longed been recognised that higher technical quality equates to lower risk (e.g. fire risk, damage to property etc.).  The scheme also adds value to solar installers and EPCs who include the certification as part of their installation offer, demonstrating to clients a higher level of technical competence and quality of workmanship.

A cost efficient process delivered by a recognised and trusted brand, BRE Global’s Solar PV Certification Scheme provides the evidence required by investors and insurers for technical due diligence at all stages of a solar PV development, from design, to installation and ongoing operation.

Jonny Williams, Director of BRE National Solar Centre, will be launching the scheme at the Solar PV Summit in London on 19th July.  For more information on the conference and to register please visit www.solarpvsummit.com
